About Chess

What a great waste of time! I’ve been playing chess more or less since the age of five. And now after 32 years when I might win my first tournament, I would be willing to give it all away.

I do not think it is just selfish of me to talk about this (now that I might get my first victory) but I’d also like to warn some of my closest and at the same time appraise what a great waste of time chess is.

Hulda, Part 1

It has been quite a while, but now she is back – Hulda. At this time she was somewhat reserved.

I’ve read a story of a poet, who had several cats. One was called Brigitte Bardot, because she liked to lay down on her back with her feet wide spread. The poet told Brigitte Bardot, the person, did not do the same for him.

I was born in Australia, came to Britain in the mid seventies and forgot to go back. I work in mixed medium, pen and ink, water based ink pens, watercolour and sometimes a mix of all of these. Art fills me with optimism, i am passionate about my own art but also everyone else, I mostly do graphic abstracts.

Painting "Intersect" by Susan Harris

"Intersect"
20 x 30 x 1-1/2 inches
(Two 10 x 30 inch canvases connected)

An expression of freedom to think, to do, and to be. The brightness of the copper represents hopes and dreams that over-power the shadow of darkness within and the desire to be someone you aren't.

"If you were to ask for her inspiration, she would say, as anyone who creates something concrete to express something vague might: everything becomes an experiment with hundreds of gifts and lessons along the way."

Sell Art Online

"I am a self taught, ever stumbling into learning, artist and live-er of life. I thrive on and love color, texture and depth in a painting. I like to incorporate various papers, fabrics, cordage, rope, glass, clay, etc. in my work. I enjoy making rope from cattails and wild iris. Weaving, knitting, mosaic, buiding ponds, gardening, stone masonry, jewelry making and pine needle /vine basketweaving.. I am inspired by cultures, cities, places, the design / forms in nature, thoughts, sound, music, the human condition, rocks, Water, clouds, silence, emptiness, ghost towns and so on.
My heart is deeply moved by the plight of those suffering homelessness, poverty, isolation, and issues facing women, and children,.A portion of my knitting is donated to pine ridge reservation, please check their website at friendsofpineridge if you might be able to help.
I taught as an artist in the schools,(CA), as an volunteer for art for the disabled and homeless and taught Indian Education for tribally enrolled students . I was an AmeriCorps and Vista volunteer for 2 years which i enjoyed immensely building community gardens and sustainable cultural programs for tribes, and economically impacted rural areas.
I am a woman of faith and follower of Christ, Inspiration, like breath and life, is a divine gift. Art is the outcoming of that through the limited filters and abilities I have been given and with which my hope is to use wisely and well, to honor God and to help and give hope to others. I studied horticultural therapy and ethnic studies. I have visited and lived in many places, among my favorites are Turkey, Morocco, Scotland, California, Oregon, Seattle, South America, Greece, Spain...,
Seek peace and persue it, live a quiet life, work with your hands......
Thank you for stopping by, I appreciate your time and your feedback.
'let us not become weary in doing good'
Blessings!”
